Integrative GP

I completed my undergraduate degree of Medicine at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2004 and worked for 3 years at Fremantle Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital before commencing General Practice Training. I worked in the rural areas of Albany and Geraldton and then completed General Practice training in 2009. I continued to be curious about what factors were involved in healing the body and trying to find the root cause of symptoms that didn’t have a clear answer in the Western medicine paradigm. I then started my training through the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine in 2013, and quickly devoured the content, and developed a special interest in the nutritional treatment of mental illness and completed Biobalance training. I started incorporating this approach in my practice, in the GP setting, but also in my work with Homeless Healthcare and providing GP support to the patients’ at Graylands Hospital. I have a keen interest in supporting patients to return to their intuition, helping them trust their bodies to guide them through their health journey. I am particularly fascinated in how incredible the body is, in its healing capabilities, as long as we learn to provide it with what it needs. I incorporate a range of standard laboratory testing, as well as functional medicine testing when needed, to help elucidate imbalances that are making it harder for the body to heal. I’m also passionate about utilizing the best of allied and complementary health practitioners as part of peoples healing journeys. We all have gifts and skills that can complement and facilitate a smoother healing journey for our patients. That is my main vision for Akana, helping people reconnect with their inner wisdom, activating their healing potential and utilising the best of eastern, western and complementary therapies to support this process.

Dr. Nikee Msuo

Holistic GP

Dr Nikee Msuo has recently moved to Perth after spending two decades working in rural WA as a highly skilled and sought after GP Obstetrician.

As a mother of four, Nikee worked her way through several career changes. From electrician, to nursing and then medicine, Nikee brings a vast amount of life skills and knowledge into her clinical practice and is passionate about offering patient centred care.

Whilst being educated here in Australia, Nikee grew up in Africa and Papua New Guinea .This gave her a real appreciation of the complex interplay between ones genetic makeup and the effects of the environment, nutrition, social and spiritual connections that is unique to us all.

Nikee has focused much of her early career on the care and wellbeing of women and children delivering thousands of babies in country WA.

In 2018 Nikee completed her Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Public Health. Following this she spent a year as a volunteer in Timor Leste, working with both the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and the Government of Timor Leste. This role involved building capacity with Timorese Doctors whilst setting up the countries first critical care facility in response to the covid pandemic.

Since moving to Perth, Nikee is completing her studies with the Australian College of Nutrition and Environmental Medicine.

“It took me some time to realise the difference between disease and wellness. I now recognise all the intricacies of what impacts health and how each individual actually requires their own specialised investigations and treatment plan. I am looking forward to learning from my patients and helping to empower them to discover a holistic integrated approach to achieve their health goals.“

Dr. Jayne Schoppe

Holistic GP

I grew up in the country and graduated from Notre Dame Fremantle Medical School in 2013, where I developed a strong foundation in medical science and patient care.
After practicing in various specialties across Perth hospitals and in Kalgoorlie, and completing 3 years of specialist Paediatrics training, I made the move to General Practice to enjoy the greater variety of cases and the benefits of working in a community setting. My experience has highlighted the significant opportunity for lifestyle and holistic health to help people, both in preventative health care and as an adjunct to the management of chronic physical and mental health conditions.
I am particularly interested in:

  • Lifestyle and preventative medicine
  • Health at every size
  • Paediatrics and adolescents
  • Women’s health
  • Chronic disease management
  • Mental health

I am passionate about patient-centred care and enjoy providing education to empower patients to understand their health and wellbeing and support them to reach their full health potential. To continue to improve the quality of the service that I offer, I am currently undertaking postgraduate training in Lifestyle Medicine through the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine.
Outside of work, I enjoy growing my own fruits and vegetables, being outdoors, cooking, reading, and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your journey to better health.

Dr Sai-Ling Ho grew up in London, UK, and graduated in Medicine from the Universities of St Andrews and Manchester (UK) in 2004. She worked extensively throughout Great Britain and Australia, including rural Queensland, before choosing General Practice in 2010, with a sub-specialty in Medical Acupuncture since 2017.

Her approach integrates Medical acupuncture with Western Medicine, as appropriate, in order for patients to achieve better health, utilising the best treatment from both worlds, in a safe, effective and holistic manner. Acupuncture-related modalities include needles, laser acupuncture, ear acupuncture, earseeds, electro-acupuncture and moxibustion.
